Does your buddy like Philip K. Dick? or Aldous Huxley? or George Orwell? There was this interesting video game out; can't remember the name ATM that talked about worlds of magic and sorcerery colliding with steam design schematics. Sort of like a fantastic "When Worlds Collide Concept". I think Neil Gaiman may also have had a steam punk style superhero with Dandy qualities that he wrote for.
I think Fear Factory and FLA deal with cyber punk imagery the most but steam punk is more fo a throwback on that concept, correct?
